The Porsche 904: A Racing Icon for the Road
Introduction
The Porsche 904, officially named the Carrera GTS, stands as one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1960s. Produced between 1964 and 1965, this model bridged the gap between Porsche’s pure racing machines and road-legal sports cars. Designed by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the 904 was born out of necessity: Porsche needed a car that complied with FIA GT regulations, requiring at least 100 street-legal units for homologation. The result was a masterpiece that combined cutting-edge engineering with timeless design.
